Westfield offers a variety of housing options and lifestyles for its residents. Westfield has many fine neighborhoods with pricing ranging from the low $100,000 range up to $600,000. Housing stock includes single family homes, condominiums, and multifamily homes in a range of settings from rural to suburban to downtown. The Western Avenue section of town is home to both Westfield State University and Stanley Park which are huge assets for the City. Westfield State has experienced tremendous growth over the past ten years both on campus with the addition of new dorms and academic buildings as well as student housing in the Downtown areas. Westfield is conveniently located on Exit 3 of the Mass Pike. Westfield has Route 20 running East/West while it has Routes 10/202 running North/South through the City. On the north side of town, Westfield also has Barnes Municipal Airport which is home to Gulfstream, the 104th Air National Guard Base and many other businesses.
Agawam is comprised of two main sections: Agawam and Feeding Hills. Agawam is bordered by Westfield, West Springfield, Southwick and Suffield CT. Agawam offers home owners many options including some very nice condominium complexes and residential neighborhoods in a wide price range. Agawam is home to Six Flaggs New England located on Main Street close to the Connecticut line. Agawam has a picturesque bike path along the Connecticut River which borders the community along its East side. Agawam has convenient access to Springfield as well as points North and South via Routes 57, 91 and 5.
West Springfield is famous for hosting The Big E every year which is held for two weeks each September on the Eastern States Exposition fairgrounds. The Big E is the largest fair in the northeast and it offers something for everyone: concerts, animal shows, craft items, carnival rides, products and services of all kinds and best of all THE FOOD! Where else can you get a burger between two donuts, a fried Oreo and a famous Big E Cream Puff? The Big E Fairgrounds also features a variety of trade shows, craft fairs, animal shows, and events throughout the year. West Springfield also offers a regional shopping, dining and movie theatre destination along Route 5 which also known as Riverdale Road. West Springfield offers great housing options for first time buyers, move up buyers and seniors. There have been several over 55 senior housing communities build over the past few years that offer one floor living, low maintenance and the lifestyle seniors are looking for. Southwick has a rich farming history and continues to be a beautiful rural community to live in. Over the years, there have been many new developments added with new homes in the $300,000 plus range. Southwick is also blessed with Lake Congamond which is made up of North, Middle and South Ponds. Western Massachusetts’ largest city, Springfield is currently experiencing a lot of new and exciting developments. MGM is going to redevelop the South End as well as parts of Main Street and State Street for the new urban casino. Many of the businesses currently in those areas are filling up other vacant spots in downtown Springfield which is creating excitement and renewal of downtown. Springfield is home to the Basketball Hall of Fame which is situated along the Connecticut River with a number of casual and fine dining restaurants. Springfield is known as the City of Homes and continues to offer many historic as well as affordable homes throughout the City. Forest Park is a huge park that has fields, tennis courts, trails, ponds, ice rink and is home to Bright Nights. Bright Nights has become a winter tradition where you can drive through the park at night and see all kinds of lighting displays of the holidays, children’s stories and winter scenes. In addition, Springfield is home to the Quadrangle on which campus is the main library along with numerous museums. Springfield also has the Symphony, City Stage and the Mass Mutual Center. The Mass Mutual Center is home to the Springfield Falcons hockey team as well as the main venue for events, conferences, trade shows and more. One landmark restaurant is Student Prince/The Fort which offers authentic German cuisine, famous beer stein collection and a history of being the place to be and be seen. Northampton has the quintessential downtown that every community strives to have. The walkable downtown is also serviced by a bike path that connects Northampton to Amherst and Easthampton. There are a myriad of shops, galleries, restaurants, coffee shops, concert halls and much more within a few blocks in any direction. Smith College is just up from Main Street and boasts a beautiful campus for all to enjoy. The Northampton Brewery was a pioneer in the craft beer brewing in the area.
